Introducing Andi & WildStrong Black Mountains
We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Andi to the WildStrong network and to be launching our first WildStrong in Wales! We know that Andi will be a brilliantly kind, calm, and compassionate coach.
Over to Andi…
I have spent most of my working life in education, primarily in what I like to call "the fun fringes" of the field. What does this mean? Well, for me, it has included teaching young people to play musical instruments. I have developed and led innovative programs for entire classes and schools to learn instruments and then come together as communities, performing in bands and orchestras. I was also a science communicator and workshop leader with Sublime Science, which gained fame by receiving a full-house of offers on Dragon's Den! Currently, I work at a Montessori school, where I teach Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Music. My career has also included several community development and program manager roles.
You may be picking up on the fact that I thrive on variety and challenge. The same goes for my approach to maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle. I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors. While I have a background in working out at gyms, I found that formal exercise has never really ticked my boxes, at least not on a long-term basis.
Over the last few years, I've been contemplating the idea of setting up my own business focused on running sessions for people of all ages to explore their play ethos and their approach to life and learning. This plan was evolving over time, and then I discovered WildStrong...
The WildStrong ethos of growing strong, connected communities, exploring natural (often playful) movement, while building strength, skills, and mobility in beautiful outdoor settings, feels like it has come at the perfect time for me. It provides the means to weave together the strands I have been developing over the years.
I am really excited to start my coaching journey and have thoroughly enjoyed working with several of my colleagues at school who have been my ‘willing guinea pigs’ on this journey!
