September news
I hope you’ve all had a good summer. Gill here, Megan is on mat leave with a very chubby and cheerful 4 month old (photo below).
A long overdue blog post which I’ve rewritten twice over the summer and somehow it’s now September. This was my first school summer holiday, very little work has happened but my children are still alive and seem to have enjoyed themselves so that’s good. We can only do so much.
New locations!
We have loved the journey of coaching and working with Lynne (WildStrong Falkland) and Lauren (WildStrong Enfield). Watching new resilient communities form and grow is just magic!
We knew that WildStrong worked in our flagship group, but what happens when you train others to build their own communities in completely different places, both geographically and demographically?
As we grow the more we’re certain that while there will always be people that go to the gym or to bootcamps, there are lots and lots of people that will never go to either. And it’s these people that we’re interested in.
We’re never going to attract them all(!), the cohort is enormous and the reasons for not exercising are vast and complicated. But If we’re appealing to a small segment, bringing people outside into beautiful spaces to spend time together whilst learning how to lift, jump, scramble and move with confidence then we’re pretty happy with that.
We have two more locations in the pipeline – very exciting, I’m allowed to tell you where just, yet!
Do you know anyone looking to run their own business but not quite sure where to start? Point them in our direction!
What else is new?
We’ve won a place on the Hatch Enterprise programme! We’ll be joining ten other start-ups from across the country on their incubator programme next month.
We launched some Mellow Sessions a few months ago aimed at those with little to no exercise history. The sessions are low intensity and focus more on movement foundations and strength. We’ve had fantastic feedback from these and they sit well with our exercise referrals so we’re looking forward to expanding this offer in the next few months.
We have partnered with the excellent physios at Go Perform to offer some small workshops on pelvic floor strength. We’re really excited about these, I wish I’d taken the time to go to Go Perform in the aftermath of childbirth, better late than never!
We started a Community Garden! Sounds odd, but really the cross over makes sense. Once you have a group of like-minded people the possibilities are endless. We’ve grown a LOT of courgettes, tomatoes, onions, beans, artichokes, potatoes and about 4 carrots…not sure why the carrots didn’t fare so well.
