Welcoming a New Wildstrong Coach: Sam

We’re really pleased to welcome Sam Wyton into the coaching community. It’s always a privilege to work with people who bring genuine warmth, curiosity, and care to what they do- and Sam has that in abundance.

One of the most rewarding parts of our work is seeing coaches take what they’ve learned and begin to shape it into something that’s truly their own. We’re excited to watch Sam’s journey unfold, the communities she builds, and the people she’ll go on to support through outdoor movement in the years ahead.

Here’s more about Sam in her own words:

I love having fun & being active, especially when its outdoors! For many years I taught traditional ‘outdoor education’ activities (ie, kayaking, climbing, surfing, team building, ski-ing) working in Europe as well as UK & Ireland. I loved it!

As I got older I moved into a more corporate commercial world; it was what was expected – the ‘norm’, I suppose. I kept active in my spare time but it wasn’t the same. It wasn’t until I was made redundant that I was forced to review my life and I was determined that whatever I did next was going to be on my terms, and most importantly was going to bring me joy – I was going to have fun!

That’s when I discovered Wildstrong – my Mum sent me a ‘reel’ she had seen on Facebook with a message saying ‘thought of you - this looks fun, I’d like to try it’ and I couldn’t have agreed more. I tried to find a WildStrong Nature Moves session local to us in South Devon, but there were none; & so that was when I decided that I would make it happen.

I would build on previous experiences and I saw an opportunity to build a Nature Moves community in and around Torbay. I thought people will love it; who wouldn’t want to give it a go? play those games, make new friends while being out in beautiful locations in nature.

I booked on a course in Fife, Scotland in early 2026. It delivered in bucket loads! I had the most wonderful, positive week with a lovely group of like minded people, all keen to start thinking about new and different ways to bring movement to the community.

Gill and Andrew were fabulous – sharing their knowledge and passion for improving peoples lives easily, like having a chat with close friends; and there was such a variety of life experience in the group that we all learned from each other – it was fantastic. I loved every minute, everyone was so kind, and although I didn’t want it to end, I couldn’t wait to get home to finish off my accreditation and get going!

February seems along time ago but since then I have been busy setting up the business. I passed the Level 1 Nature Moves Accreditation after running a number of practice sessions with friends and family. I have had some brilliant, collaborative & supportive meetings with local stakeholders and I have found 3 perfect locations; acquired the necessary insurances and permissions; sorted a website and social media - I even have a flag so 1st timers can spot me, and curious passers-by will hopefully start to recognise the movement I am creating in South Devon.

Ongoing work – I still need to look into funding sources to be able to open it to all, and I am always on the lookout for new locations. They need to have parking, and a café close by for the obligatory post session social tea/cake and a chat. I have signed up to the WildStrong Coaching pathway and I need to crack on with that too – my long term aim is to be able to offer a mix of both playful movement activity blended with some strength sessions.

But for now – its May 2026 and my sessions are starting at Torre Abbey (Torquay) this week. If you’re curious as to how it goes and what happens next then please follow me on Facebook and Instagram where all will be revealed. You can also contact me via my website www.innaturemovers.co.uk. I am always happy to have a chat!
